3 Tips for Prepping Your Commercial AC System for Summer

April 27, 2024

Summer is one of the most demanding seasons for your air conditioning system. Therefore, it’s essential to attend to the system before summer comes to make it ready for the challenge ahead. Here’s how to prepare your commercial AC system in Boston, MA, for the cooling season:

Change Your Air Filter

An air filter has two responsibilities: keep the indoor air clean and safe for inhalation and prevent impurities in your indoor air from contaminating your system’s components. When the filter traps contaminants over time, they build up on it and restrict air from entering the commercial AC system for cooling.

A clogged filter makes the commercial AC system work harder than usual, trying to pull enough air. Overworking makes the system’s components wear out quickly.

A clogged air filter also can cause uneven temperature distribution in your spaces, as the system only manages to cool and distribute a small fraction of the indoor air. Remember to change your air filter regularly to enjoy consistent temperatures in your commercial building and prevent your AC system from overstraining.

Clean the Area Around the Outdoor Unit

The outdoor units of commercial AC systems release heat absorbed from your indoor air to the surroundings during the cooling season. These units require unobstructed airflow to release heat efficiently.

Any vegetation growing around these components can obstruct airflow. Therefore, consider uprooting any flowers or weeds surrounding these units.

Schedule Commercial AC Maintenance

Maintenance services help to ensure that all your commercial AC system’s components are in good working condition. During a maintenance visit, our service technicians inspect the system to ensure there are no ductwork leaks, refrigerant leaks, frayed wiring or worn-out components. If our service technicians find any damaged or inefficient components, they will fix or replace them to enable your commercial air conditioning system to operate efficiently.

The discussed procedures enable your commercial air conditioner to operate efficiently without interrupting your workers’ and clients’ comfort. Call the commercial air conditioning experts at Sagamore to have your system installed, repaired or tuned up.
